Computing student's bronze award

A Llanelli computing student has been awarded a bronze award at the Welsh and West of England heat of a WorldSkills web design competition.Samuel being presented with certificate

Coleg Sir Gâr student Samuel Phillips, 17, whose studying an extended diploma, won the award in the competition which tests candidates skills in creating a professional website, working to a stringent script within a five hour timeframe.

Mike David, Coleg Sir Gâr computing lecturer, said: “Competitors had to design and build a responsive website promoting new music bands.”

“The structure had to be suitable for viewing on a hand-held device and a full-size monitor using a number of programmes such as jQuery and JavaScript.”

Samuel may be eligible to progress to compete at The Skills Show in Birmingham this year depending on UK results.
