Governance

Introduction

On behalf of all the governors I would like to welcome you to the governance section of the Coleg Sir Gar website. Here you can access information on the college’s Board and Committees, governance policies and procedures, minutes of meetings, and details of how to contact the Board.

The college is a company with charitable status. The college is part of the University of Wales: Trinity Saint David Group.

The college is overseen by a Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for the mission and strategic direction of the College; it determines policy and monitors the performance of the college ensuring that the learner and extended community are at the heart of everything we do.

There are fourteen places on the Board including representatives from the University, college staff and students as well as independent directors from a wide variety of backgrounds, including representatives from the community and business. Together they form an enthusiastic team, strongly committed to the college’s development and determined to give the best of their personal experience and strategic skills to maximise the thriving future of Coleg Sir Gar and the success of all its students.

In addition to the Board the college has an Advisory Body comprising of three committees which report to the Board covering:

  • Planning and Resources
  • Curriculum and Standards
  • Audit and Risk Management

The intention of this part of the college website is to provide an open access point to the workings of the Board with an insight into the activities of the different committees and aspects of their work; reflecting the Board’s commitment to a policy of open governance.
