Course Content

This programme allows learners to enhance their skills in cake decorating, sugar craft techniques and design, suitable for industry. The course develops skills in run-out work, pressure piping, fabric effects, Bas-Relief, un-wired flowers and marzipan figure modelling.

Course Features

  • Provides a nationally recognise qualification in this craft which is graded from Pass-Distinction.
  • General equipment is provided for all classes. However, specialist equipment, materials and colours etc. have to be provided by the individual.
  • Protective clothing will be required.
  • A portfolio of work will need to be maintained.
  • Compliments wired sugar flower courses.

Career Prospects and Progression

The course is planned to develop skills and confidence to enable learners to progress towards the ABC Cake Decoration Level 3 - 139/3. Many learners use the skills developed to start their own business.

Entry Requirements

Learners entering the Level 2 course will be expected to have successfully completed the Level 1 Certificate in Cake Decoration or have reached an equivalent standard.
