For full time students starting in September. 

At Coleg Sir Gâr we have a range of Scholarships to help ease the financial burden of studying an University course at the college. They are not means tested and are not reliant upon your household income.  However, they are subject to you meeting certain conditions.

So if you are thinking of starting a full-time higher education course (ie. Degree, Foundation Degree or HND) at Coleg Sir Gâr read on.

Bursaries are available for EC domiciled students who enrol to a full time Higher Education Course at the college (ie Degree, Foundation Degree or HND)and are still attending on 1 February 2010.   

1. Internal progression (FE to HE) scholarship - £260

This is payable in March 2010 to students who progressed from a Coleg Sir Gâr Further Education course in 2009.

2. Partner School/College progression scholarship - £260

This is payable in March 2010 to students who progressed from a recognised partner School or College in 2009.

3. Progression HE to HE Scholarship - £260

This is payable in March 2010 to students who progressed from a Coleg Sir Gâr full time HND or Foundation Degree to a full time Degree Course at the College in 2009.

4. Child care scholarship - £260

This is payable in March 2010 to students who are parents with dependents (under 16 in full time education) living at the same address as them.

 5. Successful completion scholarship - £260

This is payable in July 2010 to students who complete their first year assessments (without any referrals) and progress to the second year of their full time Higher Education Course at the College (ie, Degree, Foundation Degree or HND).

In order to get the payment(s) you will need to make Coleg Sir Gâr one of your UCAS choices and accept any offer of a place at Coleg Sir Gâr as your first choice. If we make you an offer of a place and you accept

it, we will send you details of confirmation. All bursaries are subject to you meeting the college's entry requirements, rules and regulations.

You can still apply for these Scholarships if you have already put Coleg Sir Gâr as one of your 6 UCAS choices.

Other Financial Help with Fees or Living Costs

Student Loans
Loans are available to help with living costs etc. Interest is charged at the rate of inflation (see www.studentfinancewales.co.uk)

Assembly Learning Grant
This is means tested and depends on family income. It will be calculated by your local Authority  (see www.studentfinancewales.co.uk)

Financial Contingency Funds
These are available through the college to help students that are experiencing hardship. Each case is considered in detail by college.
