Coleg Sir Gâr is one of the largest further Education Colleges in Wales and as result, has excellent learning resources and facilities across five campuses. These are backed up by professional student support services and highly qualified staff who provide individual support in small teaching groups. Every effort is also made to make attendance as flexible as possible to allow for constraints such as childcare commitments and work demands. Depending on the course, study options can include full time, part time and evenings only, concentrated block sessions and blended learning which combines some attendance at college with distance learning at home via the Internet.

- Accommodation and Welfare Officers offer expert, friendly advice and guidance from assistance with fees, financial support and childcare costs to personal welfare issues and accommodation.
- Careers Education and Guidance Staff in Partnership with Careers Wales help people to develop the knowledge and skills that will allow them make best use of their capabilities in learning and work throughout life.
- The Full time College Counsellor offers a confidential counselling service that helps students talk privately and confidentially about anything that might be worrying them and help explore thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental setting.
- A bilingual Learning Support service is available to any student in need of additional support with coursework, assignments, report writing, proof reading, study skills, essay writing, examination techniques.
- A full range of support services is provided for students with disabilities, learning difficulties and mental health difficulties to ensure that they can pursue the course of their choice.
- Learning Centres offer a wide range of multimedia resources as well as a substantial book stock, newspapers and periodicals along with a number of PCs that are available for word processing assignments and other work.
Higher education courses generally carry a fee, but loans and grants are available for eligible students to ease the burden. The College also has a range of Scholarships/Bursaries available and a Contingency Fund to help students that are experiencing financial hardship.

Access to Higher Education/ Onwards & Upwards
Access to Higher Education courses help those who want a second chance in education. They are designed specifically for people who may have few or no formal qualifications or who have been out of education for some time and are an alternative method for students over 19 to acheive the entry requirements for a higher edducation course. Access involve one year's full time study and aim to build confidence, improve study and written skills, to master basic maths, to satisfy curiosity, and to help you apply for your chosen HE course. The West Wales School of the Arts (Art & Design Faculty)
The West Wales School of the Arts aims to provide an unrivalled arts education is the midst of the beautiful landscape and coastline of West Wales.
The widest possible choice of courses are available from a WJEC Foundation course to a full programme of ten BA Honours courses in Art and Design.
Most of the BA Honours courses are based at our Jobswell campus, Carmarthen but some courses are delivered at the Pibwrlwyd campus, Carmarthen.
All courses are enhanced by excellent facilities which include an Art Gallery, photographic studios, fashion studios, state of the art computer facilities and extensive resources for stone, metal, ceramics, textiles and printmaking.
Staff are highly qualified and experienced practitioners in their creative fields with wide ranging educational and professional experience for students to draw upon and gain insight into their own work and potential careers in Art and Design.
West Wales Business School
Coleg Sir Gâr is part of the newly established West Wales Business School with the University of Glamorgan and Pembrokeshire College.
Both Coleg Sir Gâr and Pembrokeshire College have a long-standing relationship with the Business School at the University of Glamorgan and the development of the West Wales Business School will ensure that the relationship develops even further over the next few years.
Through the West Wales Business School it is hoped that the provision of Higher Education Business and Management courses can be extended so that the whole of West Wales can benefit from having centres such as this on their doorstep.
