Apart from Studying, what else is there to do at Coleg Sir Gar?
It's important that students enjoy their time at college, by taking part in extra curricular activities, or simply by spening recreational time with their fellow students.
The majority of students are allocated a Wednesday afternoon for recreational activities, where they can take part in college activities, take some time out, catch up with their studies, or spend some time having fun.
The Students Union is the first stop for any students wishing to set up clubs, get involved with charity work, or organising fun days and evenings out. Other activities include;
- The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

- Self Defence Courses
- Student Community Action (SCA) Student Volunteering
- Film Club
- College Productions, Shows and Fashion Shows
- Lunchtime five-a-side football league
- Enterprise Club (Global Enterprise Challenge)
- Fundraising
- Themed Student Night’s at various locations
- Team Sports, eg. Rugby, Football, Netball, Hockey and more
- The 5/30 Club, which is a Sports Council of Wales initiative aiming to get students fit for free
There are a range of things to do outside of the college, from taking a shopping trip at the local town, eating out, catching a film, taking a bus or train into Cardiff, the capital city, or taking a walk on the beach.
