Awards and Accolades
The College has a very good record of receiving national awards and commendations from external organisations.
The college has an excellent record of student success, winning national competitions within each of its faculties and with many students going to study at Oxbridge. We were also the only Welsh college to exhibit at London Graduate Fashion week for the last two years, we won the EEF Welsh Apprentice of the Year, and are recently celebrating the success of winning the design of the Bardic Chair for the 2006 Eisteddfod.
On A-level results day in 2007, over 78% of students achieved grades A-C, with a 97.2% overall pass rate. Students receiving straight ‘A’ grades totalled an impressive percentage of 27.5%, which topped the national average percentage.

Beacon Awards are awarded to further education providers throughout the UK, upon successful application and a competitive round of site visits. These awards are prestigious and are highly recognised across the Further Education sector. They are presented by the Minister for Education in London.
Fforwm Awards are awarded to Further Education Colleges throughout Wales, upon application and a competitive evidence based site visit. These awards hold a high profile and are highly recognised within Wales.

In addition to the receipt of the above awards and commendations, the College has been successful in attaining the following standards:
- Investors in People (1999, 2001, 2003 and 2007)
- Charter Mark (2002, 2005, 2006)
- Basic Skills Quality Mark 2004 – awarded in recognition of the College’s commitment to
improve the skills level of literacy and numeracy of students. The college has achieved the Basic Skills Agency Quality Mark for its delivery of basic skills provision.
- Accredited College Status of the University of Glamorgan (2002) – The College became the first accredited College of the University of Glamorgan in 2002, in recognition of the volume of learners enrolled on University of Glamorgan franchised higher education courses.
- British Association for Counselling Practitioners (BACP) for its advanced counselling courses.
