This course incorporates the BTEC Level 2 Technical Certificate in Business Administration and the BTEC Level 2 First Award in Business qualifications, which are globally recognised and benchmarked. 

The focus is on the development of technical, practical and transferable work-related skills and business specific knowledge.  The development of these skills is key for learners to progress to work, further education or to an apprenticeship.

Programme Content


The BTEC Level 2 Technical Certificate in Business Administration consists of:

  • Understanding Administration Services
  • Providing Administrative Services
  • Using Business Technology to Process and Communicate Information
  • Planning, Organising and Supporting Business Events

The BTEC Level 2 First Award in Business consists of:

  • Introduction to Business
  • Finance for Business
  • Enterprise in the Business World
  • Promoting a Brand

Progression & Employment


You will be fully supported in developing new ways of working and broadening your skills and knowledge of the business environment.

Successful completion of the course will enable you to progress to an apprenticeship in Business Administration as well as to higher-level courses including Level 3 Business, Marketing and Finance or Level 3 Enterprise and Event Management.

You may also progress to employment in administrative roles as this qualification provides evidence of achievement of a range of practical skills, as well as of underpinning knowledge and understanding of administration.

Method of Assessment


Both qualifications are assessed via a mix of internally set assignments set by your lecturers and external examinations set by BTEC.

Entry Requirements


We require four GCSE grades at D or above, with two C grades.  One C must be English, maths or Welsh first language. Or a suitable level one qualification at merit following a successful interview. 



An applicant will need to have good written and verbal communication skills. dEnglish and maths are an integral part of the course. Students who do not yet have the necessary grades at C or above will have additional teaching and support to study for either GCSE or Essential Skills depending on prior GCSE grades. 

Additional Costs


All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £25 prior to enrolment.

You will need to provide your own stationery and may also incur costs if the department arranges educational visits.
