The Level 3 Certificate in Swedish Massage is an occupational qualification that provides learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work as an employed and/or self-employed massage therapist.
This qualification is based on the beauty therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the leading professional association, the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC). Holders of this qualification are eligible to become a professional member of BABTAC.
This qualification has specifically been designed for the 18+ age group and enables learners to develop technical skills to prepare learners for employment.

Programme Features
This is a professional vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a massage therapist including, units covering the following: providing body massage, health and safety, anatomy and physiology and client care.
Learners will attend the Graig campus and will work within a commercial environment to complete practical case studies supported by online classroom activities and assessments therefore a positive attitude and good interpersonal skills are essential along with the ability to work as part of a team and also autonomously.
The course will begin on Thursday 3rd March from 2:00 pm- 9:00pm and run for 15 weeks.

Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
Progression & Employment
This qualification will prepare you for employment as a Swedish massage therapist.
You will also be eligible to join a professional association and gain insurance as a
Swedish massage therapist. Career opportunities exist in a variety of contexts, including:
Working in commercial salons
Working in a destination and day spas
Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings
This qualification can also lead you on to further study as a Complementary Therapist, Aromatherapist or Sports Massage Therapist at Level 3.

Entry Requirements
Suitability for this course will be assessed at interview. We also require five GCSEs at grades A* to C, which include either English language or Welsh (first language) and maths, or a level two diploma.
Potential candidates need to be aware that excellent attendance and punctuality is an essential part of this course. A well presented, professional appearance is essential and therefore learners will be required to purchase professional kits and a uniform which must be worn during all practical classes.
Learners who wish to undertake this qualification must also achieve the VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention (COVID-19) for Complementary Therapies and Sports Massage qualification or a regulated equivalent.
