An Apprenticeship is a work based learning programme where the learner is "earning while learning". The Programme is ideally suited to employees who have some element of responsibility within their job role. The programme is aimed at the learners over the age of 16. The Apprentice will be employed and receive at least the minimum Apprentice wage. The Apprentice has the option to attend college on a day release basis as pre agreed with the Training Adviser and should achieve the Level 3 Apprenticeship Framework within the agreed timescale.
Learners who have successfully completed this Apprenticeship can progress onto Higher Apprenticeship at Level 4 if available and normally progress in work to Assistant or Yard Manager at the required standard.
Learners following this Foundation Apprenticeship will have to achieve a framework of qualifications which will include: -
Essential Skills must be achieved in order for a successful completion these are: -
BHS Stage 3 Horse Knowledge and Care examination which can be undertaken at Coleg Sir Gar Pibwrlwyd Equine Unit. Coursework, assignments, work based observations and work based evidence.
These programmes are part financed by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government.
British Horse Society Gold Membership is required.
