A recent addition to our portfolio of university level programmes is the Certificate of Higher Education.
This is a level four stand alone qualification that is basically the first year of our degree programmes. The course will enable those students who are unable to commit to studying for a full BA honours degree to have an understanding of and learn the basic skills required in their chosen subject.
The ceramics course involves learning through making and material experimentation. Practical workshops, teaching traditional and contemporary processes in ceramics are delivered to small groups, where students explore their ideas and design potential through expressive ceramic process, design and making.
Carmarthen School of Art is known for its ‘family’ atmosphere, and open door policy. Class sizes are small and tutor contact is second to none. The course supports the development of your studio practice with an emphasis on craft and skill. You will be given your own individual workspace and access to bespoke ceramics workshops. These include dedicated spaces for slip casting and plasterwork, casting, throwing, a glaze laboratory, an extensive array of gas and electric kilns, raku and pit firing facilities and state-of-the-art ceramic and metal decal printing technology.
