For those that are passionate about starting and running their own business this is the course for you.
A vocational course which is ideal for learners who want to become a successful entrepreneur. It develops knowledge understanding and skills to help you identify a potential business opportunity and develop your own business. Learners are supported by the college's entrepreneurial champion who encourages you to develop your business ideas.
All learners are encouraged to participate in a variety of events such as competing in competitions like the Beacon Bursary.
This qualification was developed by Peter Jones of Dragon's Den to develop necessary knowledge and skills and to give you confidence, motivation and communication skills.
Successful completion of assignments ensure learners achieve a nationally recognised qualification which can lead to self-employment, employment, apprenticeships or higher education.
Guest speakers and competitions further enhance learning and progression.
Successful completion of the course will enable you to progress to starting and running your own business or to careers in a range of business related areas. Other opportunities include progression to year 2 business and also to business related apprenticeships and progression to higher education.
Learners will have the opportunity to complete a Subsidiary Diploma in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship and a National Certificate in Business which consists of 7 units in enterprise and entrepreneurship and 2 units in business. A range of units are studied which include the innovative entrepreneur, business planning and pitching and leadership and teamwork.
This course also includes Essential Skills.
This course is assessed through a range of methods which include external exams, assignments, projects and presentations.
An applicant for the Level 3 Enterprise and Entrepreneurship course will need to have:A minimum of 5 GCSEs grades A* - C or equivalent
English and Maths are an integral part of the course. Students who do not yet have the necessary grades at C or above will have additional teaching and support to study for either GCSE or Essential Skills depending on prior GCSE grades. Entry for mature students without formal qualifications is through an interview process.
