Programme Description

For those that are passionate about business this is the course for you.A vocational course which is ideal for learners who want to further their experience in the field of business. It develops knowledge understanding and skills in a range of business areas which include marketing, human resource management and finance. Learners visit a range of businesses and develop network opportunities with employers. By visiting and working with local employers you will be able to apply business theory to the practical world of business in the form of projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations.

Exciting business theories are delivered and discussed in the classroom. Visits to employers ensure learners are able to apply business theory to actual case studies. Successful completion of exams and assignments ensure learners achieve a nationally recognised business qualification which can lead to employment or higher education possibilities.Guest speakers and competitions further enhance learning and career progression.

Progression & Employment

Successful completion of the course will enable you to progress to careers in a range of business related areas such as marketing, retailing and finance. Other opportunities include business related apprenticeships and progression to higher education.

Programme Content

Learners will have the opportunity to complete a Diploma in Business which consists of 9 units. A range of business units are studied which include:Exploring Business, Developing a Marketing Campaign, Personal and Business Finance, Managing an Event and three optional units.This course also includes Essential Skills and the AAT Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping.

Programme Assessment

This course is assessed through a range of methods which include external exams, assignments, projects and presentations.

Programme Entry Requirements

An applicant for the Level 3 Business course will need to have:A minimum of 5 GCSEs grades A* - C or equivalentEnglish and Maths are an integral part of the course. Students who do not yet have the necessary grades at C or above will have additional teaching and support to study for either GCSE or Essential Skills depending on prior GCSE grades. Entry for mature students without formal qualifications is through an interview process.

Additional Costs

All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £45 prior to enrolment.

You will need to provide your own stationery and may also incur costs if the department arranges educational visits.
