A Foundation Apprenticeship is a work based learning programme where the learner is ‘earning while learning’. The programme is aimed at learners over the age of 16. The Apprentice will be employed and receive at least the national minimum Apprenticeship wage (this could be more at the employer's discretion). The Apprentice will attend college on a day release basis and should achieve the Level 2 Apprenticeship Framework within the agreed timescale.
Learners who have successfully completed this Foundation Apprenticeship can progress onto an Apprenticeship at Level 3.
Learners following this Foundation Apprenticeship will have to achieve a framework of qualifications which will include:
Coursework, assignments, work based observations and work based evidence.
There is no specific requirement to have completed any prior qualifications. However, employers are particularly interested in those who have a keen interest in: providing excellent customer service, working as part of a team, having a 'can do attitude' and having high standards of personal hygiene. Applicants will need to have basic communication skills on which this apprenticeship will build, be excellent timekeepers and willing to work shifts which will be outside the 9 - 5 normal working pattern.
These programmes are part financed by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government.
