Extended Diploma in IT & Games Design Level 3

Programme Description



This qualification will develop your skills in industry standard software packages including Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite applications as well as more specialist packages in areas such as audio editing, gaming and animation. Most units follow a general structure involving research, planning, creating and evaluating.

Progression & Employment



On successful completion, you will be able to progress to BTEC level three in computing which is your route to university level courses such as the college’s HNC in applied computing or BSc in applied computing, plus there are apprenticeship opportunities at both Level three and four.

If you are seeking, or currently in, employment, these qualifications offer you the opportunity to refresh and update your knowledge and skills in a particular sector.  Some learners may wish to gain the qualification in order to enter employment or to progress in further education.


Programme Content



Cambridge Technicals provide opportunities to develop skills demanded by employers.

They offer you the opportunity to study: 2D animation production, digital graphics, developing computer games, website production, interactive media production, information systems, computer game design, and many more.


Programme Assessment



The units in these qualifications are internally assessed by centre assessors and quality assurance personnel and externally moderated by OCR visiting moderators. 


Programme Entry Requirements



We would require a minimum of four GCSEs at grade C, preferably to include maths or English, or a suitable level two qualification.


Additional Costs



All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £45 prior to enrolment.

You will need to provide your own stationery and may also incur costs if the department arranges educational visits.
