This pathway provides a nationally agreed Plastering apprenticeship framework for a work based learning route into employment within the construction industry, using qualifications that combine both practical skills and knowledge.
Learners completing a Plastering apprenticeship will undertake work in areas such as:
Running in-situ moulds, applying plastering materials to detailing interiors/exteriors and produce reverse moulds for detailed fibrous plaster and cement castings.
As an apprentice you will be allocated a training advisor who will oversee and support you through your journey on this framework, working closely both with your employer and tutors at college. You will be expected to attend college one day/week for underpinning knowledge, and assessment will also take place in college or workplace on a regular basis. This course is both theory and practical based.
The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Plastering includes:
Progression from this framework would be onto a level 4 higher apprenticeship in a construction related discipline or HNC in Construction Management and Technology.
This pathway will develop your skills for employment as a qualified L3 Plasterer. Upon successful completion of this programme, Apprentices will achieve the following -
Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Plastering (Construction)
Level 3 Diploma in Plastering
Essential Skills Qualification in Communication and Application of Number at level 2
Employer Rights and Responsibilities
A variety of assessment methods are used which include written knowledge questions, online and practical skills tests.
Units are assessed by an NVQ portfolio and/or practically in the work place through the observation of working practices. Written and on line tests for the theory knowledge of NVQ and diploma qualifications will also be undertaken within the college.
Although there are no formal entry requirements, students will need to have a good level of numeracy and literacy skills. Applicants should have an interest in the chosen craft and evidence of practical ability would be an advantage. In addition apprentices;
