Programme Description

This 18 month part-time programme is validated and accredited by University of Wales Trinity St David and is intended to build on knowledge and skills gained as a result of previous study.  It has been designed to provide a qualification appropriate for those people already practising, those who intend to practice as higher technicians and those who wish to progress on to further study.

Progression and Employment

This qualification can be upgraded to a BSc (Hons) with a further two years of study.  Successful completion will enhance career prospects within the public and private sectors of the construction industry and related employment opportunies such as local authorities, housing associations, health service trusts and privatised utitlities and other property owning industries. 

Programme Content

The modular programme comprises three specific modules as well as an independent study module and a work-based learning module.

The qualification is awarded when all modules have been successfully completed.

Method of Assessment

The modules are assessed through a combination of assignments/projects/phase tests and examinations, plus (for the full award) an approved work experience diary.

Entry Requirements

  • A construction related Higher National Certificate
  • UWTSD welcomes applications on the basis of prior learning
  • Recognition of Prior Certification and Learning will require completion of the work based learning module for the full award.
