The sector units introduce you to some broad skills that underpin the knowledge of the digital media industry. This will ensure that you are prepared for progression to L2. We will nurture your talents focusing on practical skills that the industry requires as well as developing an understanding of the theory and principles through writing and practical application. The majority of students use this course as a progression to the Level 2 UAL Creative Media Production, though others may choose an alternative further study pathway or employment choice. You will have the opportunity to bring your ideas to life using the latest digital techniques.
This course focuses on developing the transferable skills, attributes and behaviours needed to progress to further study Digital Media at Level 2 and ultimately to employment.
You will have the opportunity to develop these skills through contributing and experimenting to new ideas. Inspiring and innovative projects will challenge you to think about how you create film. Our creative and digital media department has strong connections right across the industry, so you will benefit from industry specialists and networking opportunities and could have the chance to enter and win national film and television awards!

Successful completion of the course will enable you to progress to higher-level courses such as the Level 2 Creative Media Production programme, and provides transferable skills, which can lead to training in a wide variety of occupations.

Units are assessed internally
All applicants will need to bring a portfolio of media or art and design work to their interview. Suitability for this course will be assessed at interview.An applicant for the Level 1 will need to have a minimum of 2 GCSEs grades A* - CEnglish and Maths are an integral part of the course.
Students who do not yet have the necessary grades at C or above will have additional teaching and support to study for either GCSE or Essential Skills depending on prior GCSE grades.
All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £45 prior to enrolment.
You will need to provide your own stationery and may also incur costs if the department arranges educational visits.
