This learning programme will help you to achieve a recognised vocational related qualification in light vehicle motor vehicle maintenance and repair. Delivery of the programme is undertaken in a purpose built facility, which has workshops equipped with the latest equipment and tools used widely within the motor vehicle maintenance and repair sector.
The programme will provide you with an enjoyable, stimulating and challenging, learning experience with an emphasis placed on developing practical skills that are required by a modern vehicle mechanic. The programme also focuses on improving learners’ confidence, employability and entrepreneurship prospects.
You will be allocated a personal tutor who will support you with your progress and provide pastoral care for you, for the duration of the programme.

Vehicle technology and workshop methods and processes
Supporting job roles
Routine maintenance
Engine systems
Electrical systems
Chassis systems
Driveline units
In addition to the above units, you will also work towards the following qualifications.
Essential Skills in Application of Number
Essential Skills in Communication
If required, you will have an opportunity to undertake GCSE English language and maths development, as part of the course.
Progression & Employment
Successful completion of the programme provides progression to a level two Diploma in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or an apprenticeship programme.
Method of Assessment
Subject knowledge and skills are assessed via online multiple-choice tests and combination practical and theory assessments.
Entry Requirements
We require you to possess GCSEs at grade E or above in English or Welsh language, mathematics and another GCSE (preferably science).
Applicants will undergo an interview and basic skills assessments to establish their suitability for the programme.
Additional Costs
All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £25 prior to enrolment.
You will need to provide your own stationery and may also incur costs if the department arranges educational visits.
