This foundation apprenticeship is a level 2 programme and is suitable for learners who work in the Horticulture industry. Students, whilst on this programme will learn, develop and practise the skills required in the horticulture sector to include the establishing, managing and cultivating of plants.
A mix of practical competence based and theoretical units that will develop learners’ subject skills. Apprentices can gain skills in botanical horticulture, garden maintenance, glasshouses, and displays.
- RHS level 2 certificate in principles of Horticulture
- C&G Diploma in Workbased Horticulture – producing a Portfolio of evidence for each unit and independent assessments.
- Essential skills – Application of Number, Communication
Successful completion of this foundation apprenticeship will provide progression to higher level qualifications to Include L3 qualifications, university courses and/or higher apprenticeship programmes. Many of those studying this qualification go on to sector employment opportunities to include Gardener, Landscaper, Nursery Worker, Fruit and Vegetable production worker, Greenkeeper and groundsman.
Online/centre based assessments.
There are no formal entry requirements for the Foundation Apprenticeship in Horticulture, however, experience in this sector would be advantageous. All apprentices must be of employed status and fully supported and endorsed by the employer.
Candidates will be required to complete L1 Essential Skills Qualifications in Communication and Application of Number. Apprenticeships are suitable for both new and existing employees.
