This mechanical engineering course is a one year full-time college course incorporating work placement within the industry.
The EAL level 3 49 credit engineering Subsidiary Diploma forms the first year of the full 149 credit Technical Extended Diploma (for full time progression) or the 99 credit Extended Diploma (for part-time, apprentice progression). Practical skills are developed using a full EAL level 2 64 credit Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) NVQ diploma. Included in this enhanced learning programme are essential skills units where applicable.
Successful completion of the programme will provide skills enabling progression onto an employed status apprenticeship, or the full time L3 Technical Extended Diploma.
All units are internally assessed via exams, tests, assignments and practical activities.
All engineering full-time courses which include mechanical, electrical/electronic/fabrication and welding and motor vehicle, are fully funded.
Additional learner costs include a contribution of £30 towards the cost of personal protective equipment.
The learner will also be required to provide their own stationery and basic classroom equipment appropriate to their course (eg pens and a calculator).
All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £45 prior to enrolment.
You will need to provide your own stationery and may also incur costs if the department arranges educational visits.
