You can study GCSE maths in conjunction with your main programme of study, or it can be studied part-time as an evening class.
The course will provide you with the confidence in becoming mathematically resilient and allow you to make informed decisions in life.
This GCSE maths course will also allow you to further develop your understanding in the subject and allow to transfer the skills that you have developed, across your learning programme as a whole.

The majority of universities and employers are now insisting that learners and employees demonstrate a good grasp of numeracy. Obtaining a GCSE in maths will allow you to widen your career and study options.
Completion of the course will prepare you to make informed decisions about further learning opportunities and career choices. It will have an emphasis on those aspects of mathematics required for progression into further study or employment routes.
Programme Content
The course will provide you with the opportunity to develop problem solving skills, generate strategies to solve problems that are unfamiliar, answer questions that span more than one topic area of the curriculum, make mental calculations and calculations without the aid of a calculator, make estimates, understand 3D shape, use computers and other technological aids, collect data and to understand and use the statistical problem solving cycle.
The written papers for each tier will comprise of a number of short and longer, both structured and unstructured questions which may be set on any part of the subject content.
Entry Requirements
1 Year Intermediate Tier - GCSE maths grade D or above.
1 Year Higher Tier - GCSE maths C grade or above.
1 Year mathematics development course (Agored Cymru qualification) -GCSE mathematics grade E or above.
An entry test is available for students who have no evidence of previous qualifications.
Additional Costs
Learners under 19 years of age are required to pay an administration fee of £25 prior to enrolment. All other learners are required to pay the GCSE course fee of £122 prior to enrolment.
There are small costs that may be incurred for mathematical equipment, such as the cost of a scientific calculator, ruler, protractor and so on.
You will need to provide your own stationery and may also incur costs if the department arranges educational visits.
