The level three diploma in sports massage qualification provides the practical skills and internationally recognised qualifications to gain employment in a variety of roles within self-employment, beauty and spa facilities and private practice.
It is a very popular course and gives you the knowledge and skills required to provide sports massage therapy to a range of clients who have dysfunctional tissue, without acute/post acute injuries or underlying pathological conditions.
Throughout the qualification, you will develop treatment planning and assessment techniques as well as your technical skills. There will also be the opportunity to develop your research and evaluation skills whilst studying.
The college runs a commercial training beauty and holistic therapies suite which is open to the public and will provide you with a real working environment.
We are fortunate to have strong links with local and national industry specialists and you will be taught by our industry-experienced staff.
We also have visiting speakers from the industry that provide students with enrichment opportunities in workshop seminars.
The course is recognised under the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and the General Council for Massage Therapies (GCMT).
The course will start in September and will take one year to complete. You will attend college for one evening per week on a Monday, from 6pm to 9pm.
This qualification is designed to lead to employment as a sports massage therapist and enables you to access the massage register by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
You will be involved in a thriving programme of activities and given an insight into career prospects within the industry, which are gained through trips and events.
Upon successful completion of this course, you could progress on to a higher level course such as the level four certificate in sports massage therapy.

Suitability for this course will be assessed at interview however a positive attitude to learning a vocational skill is required and you must be keen to work with the public and have a professional attitude.

Five GCSEs at grades A* to C, which includes either English language or Welsh (first language) and maths, or we will accept a level two diploma and a level three diploma in anatomy and physiology.
If you have not yet studied a level three diploma in anatomy and physiology, you can study this alongside your course via e- learning or classroom learning. If you already hold a diploma in anatomy and physiology, you may not need to enrol onto the anatomy and physiology part of this course. All students will however still sit the anatomy and physiology exam as this is specific to sports massage.
This part time course fee is currently £456.
You will have access to a range of equipment and resources but in addition, consumable products and a uniform will need to be purchased. This information will be given prior to your start date and can be discussed at interview.
