The level four diploma in complementary therapies qualification provides a progression route with advanced technical skills for complementary therapists.
This qualification will enable you to learn additional techniques for treatment application to your existing repertoire whilst further developing your knowledge of the theories and practices for advanced applications of aromatherapy, reflexology and body massage. This qualification is designed to give you the essential knowledge to assist you in providing advanced therapeutic skills within a clinical setting.
The college runs a commercial training salon which is open to the public and which will provide you with a real working environment with real clients.
The department has strong links with local and national industry specialists who share expertise with students and you will be taught by our industry-experienced staff.
We have visiting speakers from industry that provide students with enrichment opportunities in workshop seminars.
You will study mandatory advanced techniques in all three disciplines that will prepare you to maximize your understanding and precision in working practices within the industry.
The course will be delivered over one to two days and includes one evening.
This qualification is designed to lead to employment in a variety of roles, either self employment, a complementary therapy clinic, beauty or spa facilities or private practice. This qualification may also lead to employment within a hospital, hospice or other health-care environments. Advice and guidance on career options will be given during the course and can be discussed at interview.
You will be involved in a thriving programme of activities and given an insight into career prospects in the industry which are gained through trips and events. You will have the opportunity to apply for work experience if you are not already working in the sector. Some students have as a result, found employment during the course.

Suitability for this course will be assessed at interview but to be eligible for registration, it is a requirement that you are a qualified complementary therapist with a level three (or equivalent) qualification in all three main disciplines of complementary therapies, namely aromatherapy, reflexology and massage.
Anatomy and physiology knowledge at level three or equivalent is also a mandatory requirement as well as five GCSEs at grades A* to C, which includes either English language or Welsh (first language) and maths, or a level two diploma.
Potential candidates need to be aware that excellent attendance and punctuality is essential to successfully complete this course.
This part time course is currently £364 and this includes access to a range of equipment and resources at college. In addition, consumable products and a uniform will need to be purchased. This information will be given prior to your start date.
Various trips are organised throughout the academic year relating to the beauty industry to enhance your development, of which you will be required to pay a contribution towards.
