Test, trace and protect team presented with Cariad awards
Coleg Sir Gâr principal, Dr Andrew Cornish has nominated and awarded two members of staff for their work supporting staff and students affected by Covid-19.
Vanessa Cashmore, director of student experience and Jess Rees, childcare assessor took on the roles as the internal test, trace and protect team (TTP) during the pandemic and regularly kept in touch with those affected by coronavirus.
Dr Andrew Cornish said: “Vanessa and Jess are truly deserving of this award, going above and beyond in their roles.”
Vanessa Cashmore said: “It was a lovely surprise to be nominated for a Cariad award.
“Jess and I were thrilled to accept but both felt that we were just doing our bit to help staff and students who were affected by Covid-19.
"We are both very proud to be able to help people and make sure we take care of our college community as we are all living through a very difficult time, so if we can help to keep people safe and ensure they are supported, we are happy to be part of that.”
Jess Rees added: “I am very grateful to be nominated and to receive the Cariad award.
“During lockdown I have been working alongside the wellbeing team in supporting the students who have been isolating or unwell due to Covid-19.
“Due to the pandemic, I was unable to do my usual role of assessing childcare students therefore I was glad to be given a new role that helped the college and the students during this difficult time.
“Thank you once again for the award, it is very much appreciated.”
