Business students donate to food bank

With food banks being utilised more than ever over the pandemic, business students at Coleg Sir Gâr decided to raise money for their local Carmarthen charity.

As part of their BTEC level three diploma course, students complete a module called ‘managing an event’.

They decided to put this work to good use and have raised £240 for Carmarthen food bank.

It seems that funds are much needed in this area as the Trussell Trust revealed a 14% increase in emergency food parcels for children in Wales last summer.

Due to Covid restrictions, students organised an online quiz offering prizes to the top three winners, held another quiz on campus and created a GoFundMe page for donations.

The business students were thrilled to exceed their goal considering current pandemic circumstances and extend their thanks to those that donated and shared their event.
