Sports student wins Jiu Juitsu British Open
A sports student at Coleg Sir Gâr has become the British champion in the 65kg white belt category of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu British Open.
Robert Cai John competed in the most prestigious UK tournament representing his country as well as Flight Project Gym, a martial arts academy and gym facility in Llanelli.
Training for two hours, five to six days a week Robert is a committed sportsman.
Robert said: “I was shocked and it took me a while to realise that I had become the British champion and when it sank in, I started phoning everyone to tell them.”
Carys Bryant, sports lecturer at Coleg Sir Gâr said: "We are thrilled to hear of Robert's success at the British Open and that he has now signed up to our Elite Performer Programme which will further support his professional sporting activities."
