Football academy looking ahead towards exiting new season

Coleg Sir Gâr’s Football Academy is looking ahead to the new season where they will play in the Association of Colleges (AOC) category two and three leagues as well gaining as some international playing experience.

The team ended the season with a successful run of games including an English College’s Football Association West League win.

Many of the players who were a part of that success will continue their football academy career but as second year students leave college for university or employment, it’s imperative that new and proactive players are a constant feed to the academy.

Last season also saw academy manager Jonathan Garcia gain success in his assistant manager role with the Welsh Schools U18s team, winning the SAFIB Inspire Sports Centenary Shield for the first time in 41 years for Wales.

UEFA accredited coach Jonathan Garcia, academy coach and manager, said: “We are entering the new season with enthusiasm and a hope that we can develop the team and individual players even further.

“We will also be supporting players to take part at the Roma Caput Mundi tournament as part of the Welsh Schools Football Association’s U18s international squad.”
