Hair and beauty success at Eisteddfod yr Urdd
Hairdressing and beauty students at Coleg Sir Gâr have been successful at this year’s Urdd competition where they showcased their skills and won a number of top awards competing against other colleges in Wales.
Working to the theme of countries of the world, students took part in a competition final on the Eisteddfod field where two hairdressing students won first prize and two beauty students won first and second place.
Students chose the countries of Japan and Poland and got to work on their models in a two-hour task styling hair, nails and make-up.
Winning first for hairdressing is level two student Bethan Dixon and level three student Shannon Jones-Rees. Level three beauty student Sophie Evans won first place and level two student Nowalinska Zuzanna won second place.
Gwyndaf Lewis, Coleg Sir Gâr’s bilingual activities coordinator supported students in the competition. He said: “We are so proud of the students and their achievements.
“They have worked extremely hard on their designs over the last few months and it’s great to see that their efforts have been recognised in this national competition.”
The competition was judged by BAFTA-winning make-up and colour artist Sian Grigg, who has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry.
