The Skills for Industry (SFI) team at Coleg Sir Gâr is celebrating its first ever graduate who has been fully funded by the project.
Jamie Fletcher works as a project manager for Andrew Scott Ltd and has completed his level six construction management course, which he completed in just under a year without having to attend college. This allowed him to continue to work away from home on construction projects.
A master’s degree in project management is Jamie’s next goal whilst continuing to work on major projects for Andrew Scott Ltd.
Amongst various other projects, Jamie has managed Castle Bridge in Bristol, a graceful, winding bridge which twists its way across Bristol’s waterway and won Best Designed Project in Wales from ICE Wales.
Lesley Lewis, Skills for Industry operations manager said: “We were delighted to attend Jamie’s graduation; he’s worked so hard to achieve his success.”
Peter Jones, SFI assessor said: “Jamie was always highly motivated and with a little support, it was interesting to see his academic writing develop over the period of the course and with his positive attitude he is set to succeed in his professional aspirations.”
Jamie Fletcher added: “I’m glad I took the opportunity that my employer gave me through Skills for Industry project.
“The Team are great and I could always rely on my assessor at any time, he was always there to support me.”
