Equine team host RDA’s golden celebration

Coleg Sir Gâr’s equine team hosted a prestigious celebration at its equine arena in Carmarthen.

Based at Pibwrlwyd campus, the college hosted the Riding for the Disabled Association’s 50th Anniversary Musical Ride for the United Counties RDA Group.

This golden anniversary also celebrated 15 years of the United Counties Group which has seen many social and committee events, training days and competitions held at the college including hosting qualifiers and championships.

Briony Cutler, lecturer in animal science at Coleg Sir Gâr said: “Students and staff in the equine department are proud to be part of the RDA’s journey and enjoy taking part helping out at the events.

“Over the past few weeks, they have been working to prepare a musical drill ride which had a golden theme which saw the horses dressed to impress from tinsel in their manes to golden hooves.

“The ride performance was well received by all spectators and was followed by a party and presentation of a gift to each rider from Donna Rooney representing the RDA and we are very grateful to be a part of such fantastic events.”
