Bronze medal haul from Chemistry Olympiad
A-level students at Coleg Sir Gâr have won three bronze awards in Chemistry Olympiad, the leading chemistry competition for students in secondary education.
The Olympiad is an annual event that challenges students and helps them develop creative thinking and apply existing knowledge in new and interesting contexts.
Students competed in the first round for successful entrants with a written test of their chemical knowledge, based on real-world chemistry problems.
Dr James Vile, Coleg Sir Gâr chemistry lecturer said: “We take part in this competition because it really challenges our students with realistic scenarios that would be solved by professional scientists.
“It also explores outside of the A-level curriculum and offers students a passionate insight into a career in chemistry.”
