This programme is aimed at those who want to work in administrative support roles in public or private sector organisations, or people who want to improve their administrative and supervisory skills.
The qualification was developed in association with the Council for Administration (Skills CfA). A qualification in Business Administration prepares learners for a support role in any size or type of organisation including:
- Secretary
- Receptionist
- Administrator
- Personal Assistant
- Office Supervisor/team leader
- Manager
All learners will be supported by a lecturer who will monitor progress towards achieving targets on a regular basis
Mandatory units will be delivered in college by qualified lecturers
The Lecturer will liaise closely with the employer to ensure that qualifications are achieved within timescales and will undertake assessments in the workplace when required.
The programme will be delivered 6 hours per week over 34 weeks. There will be on-site delivery one day a month, online delivery one day a month. Activities and resources will be provided for remote asynchronous engagement for the remaining two sessions of each month. The mandatory units are:
- Communication in a business environment
- Principles of providing administrative services
- Principles of business document production and information management
- Understand employer organisations
- Manage personal performance and development
- Develop working relationships with colleagues
Plus a range of option units totalling 16 credits
Learners who have successfully completed the Level 2 qualification can progress to a Level 3 Business Administration qualification

Applicants must be within 6 months of commencing the role and age 16-24 at the time of enrolment.
There are no formal qualification entry requirements for this apprenticeship, if candidates do not hold Communication, Application of Number and Digital Literacy at L1 or above, Essential Skills will have to be completed in order to successfully complete the apprenticeship. Candidates must be employed in a Business Administration role to be eligible for this apprenticeship.
