Introduction
INTRODUCTION
Coleg Sir Gar and Coleg Ceredigion will deliver the Jobs Growth Wales+ Youth Programme to 16-18 year olds who are not in education, employment or training across our campuses.
We offer 16-18 year olds individualised training, development and employability support which will assist you to gain skills, qualifications and experience. This will enable you to progress to learning at a higher level or into suitable employment or an apprenticeship.
Jobs Growth Wales+ has three strands:
• Engagement
• Advancement
• Employment

Engagement
ENGAGEMENT STRAND
Learners who are referred onto this strand will be supported in your local College to assist you in establishing your occupational focus. You will be supported by Training Advisers and mentors with any barriers you are facing.
The Programme is flexible and will entail some training and development in Basic Skills and Employability skills at your local campuses. Opportunities will be given to sample work placements in your chosen occupational areas.
You will work towards an Employability qualification.
You will be paid a training allowance of £30 and travel costs as applicable.

Advancement
ADVANCEMENT STRAND
Hairdressing Level 1 – Graig Campus, Llanelli
This will comprise of two days in College studying Level 1 Hairdressing and Essential Skills Qualifications in Communications, Application of Number and Digital Literacy. You will also attend three days work experience in a Salon.
Construction Level 1 – Ammanford Campus and Cardigan Campus
This will comprise of three days in College studying Level 1 Construction and Essential Skills Qualifications in Communications, Application of Number and Digital Literacy. You will also gain work experience on site for two days a week.
Motor Vehicle Level 1 – Pibwrlwyd Campus Carmarthen and Cardigan Campus
This will comprise of two days in College studying Level 1 Motor Vehicle and Essential Skills Qualifications in Communications, Application of Number and Digital Literacy. You will also gain work experience in a garage for three days a week.
Care Level 1 – Ammanford campus
This will comprise of three days in College studying Level 1 Health and Social Care or Child Care and Essential Skills Qualifications in Communications, Application of Number and Digital Literacy. You will also gain work experience in a child care setting for two days a week.
Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Schools – Graig Campus
This will comprise of one day in College studying towards the Level 1 and Essential Skills Qualifications in Communications, Application of Number and Digital Literacy. You will gain work experience in a School.
You will be paid a training allowance of £55 and travel costs as applicable.

Employment
EMPLOYMENT STRAND
The employment strand allows you up to 10 weeks work experience with a training allowance of £55. You will then progress into paid employment at the minimum wage for your age, for a maximum of six months. You will have been identified as occupationally focused and job ready by your Working Wales Advisor.
You will need to be:
• Actively seeking work
• Show motivation and commitment
• Have realistic expectations for gaining employment
Support can be given:
• To address any barriers
• For work related preparation / Work placement
• Essential Skills
You will be paid travel costs for up to 10 weeks as applicable.

Additional
ADDITIONAL SUPPORT
To provide additional support to those who need it most, the programme acknowledges there may be several barriers stopping young people from accessing the support and reaching their full potential. To address this, additional support may be offered by way of: • Childcare costs • Funding for travel • Adaptive equipment • Mental or physical health advice and wellbeing support
The needs of the individual will be discussed with Working Wales advisers during the individual’s assessment and referral interview.
