The post provides an exciting and challenging opportunity for a dynamic and creative person to play an integral role in the development of strategies that improve learner recruitment, learner transition and learner progression. In addition, the successful candidate will undertake extensive partnership working with schools, employers, the University and other institutions across the counties of Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion. The post holder will play a vital role in forming successful partnerships that improve learner experience and progression, including liaison with special projects currently under development linked to the Swansea Bay City Deal and Growing Mid Wales Plan.

As a member of the college Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the post holder will play a key role in the development and implementation of College strategies, policies and procedures. The post will involve extensive travel across Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion, flexibility in working hours and lead to working within the Dual Sector University.

To meet future challenges, the post holder will support the College’s drive to increase non-core income particularly by supporting the Faculties in their commercial activities and by ensuring that appropriate learner recruitment, transition and progression services are in place and of the highest quality.

We are looking for a creative and innovative individual to join the Senior Leadership Team at Coleg Sir Gar as our Director Of Learner Experience. The post holder will play a key role in the development and implementation of College strategies, policies and procedures in the areas of learner support, resilience and wellbeing. The college has developed extensive, value adding partnerships upon which this role will influence significantly. Close liaison, on a virtual daily basis also exists with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Faculty Management Teams.

To meet future challenges the post holder will support the College’s drive to increase non-core income particularly by supporting the Faculties in their commercial activities and by ensuring that appropriate learner support services are in place for all of the College’s clients. There will also be some opportunity to identify support services that are income generating in their own right.  This will involve extensive collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders.

You will need to be a natural leader with extensive knowledge and understanding of developments in FE, HE, WBL and the 14 to 19 sector. You will also be required to work alongside senior colleagues and to tight deadlines.

You will have opportunities to develop your portfolio of industry qualifications.We are looking for an adaptable individual with industrial experience who will work hard to maintain high standards and set an example for all learners.You should have practical working experience of caring for and exercising a range of horses

The post is based on Pibwrlwyd campus in Carmarthen. You will work an opposite shift pattern to another full time groom as part of the equine delivery team.

The commercial farming operation within Coleg Sir Gâr, Carmarthenshire College, is primarily (but not exclusively) centred around Gelli Aur Farm. The  Herdsperson will be given appropriate training to support the Farm Manager/Herd Manager in the day-to-day management of the two dairy herds and replacements that represent the nucleus of the commercial farm enterprise at Gelli Aur College Farm.  It is essential therefore that the Herdsperson is an integral member of a successful team which includes the Farm Manager and the Herd Manager.  Established in 1997, the Gelli Aur Agricultural Diversification and Technology Centre is fundamental in supporting Gelli Aur as a “Centre of Excellence” in land based studies. With the appropriate support and training it is essential that the Herdsperson is capable of working at the highest technical level while contributing to the training and dissemination outcomes associated with the Farm.

Casual 3G Hub Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity within our 3G Hub Team for a casual 3G Hub Assistant. 

The 3G pitch is a new high grade facility that is able to accommodate both football and rugby. It is used by the college students during the day but is open for the community in the evenings and weekends. The new Performance and Sports building includes a large sports hall, a Fitness Suite and 121 seat theatre.  This facility will be primarily a resource for students and staff but will be available for use for community activities. The college have also won the tender to maintain the 3G pitch at Pen Rhos Primary school.

This role is required to help manage, promote, run and maintain the new Performance and Sports building, the 3G pitch, college gyms and grass pitches. The 3G pitch, gym and grass pitches are run on a commercial basis, so it is essential that we provide outstanding customer service to individuals and organizations that use the facilities. 

The role will be to cover a range of hours that include evenings and weekend work but also occasional early morning and day time sessions. During the academic holidays, the 3G Hub Assistants will also be involved in offering a range of daily holiday activities for children and young people. There are also a number of sporting festivals during the year that the post holder will be involved in such as the Urdd Rugby and Football tournaments.

Candidates will also need an enhanced DBS and relevant EWC registration.
